Remove the record album from the jacket. The record album should not be in the jacket, even if it isn't in the best condition. Remove the album, but leave it in the paper sleeve for protection.
Clean the album jacket. Make your album artwork as clean as possible before mounting it into a frame. Use lighter fluid to soften any stickers on the record, then gently peel them away with a razor blade. Be very careful to avoid scratching the surface of your album jacket art.
Buy the right picture frame. The frame around your album art should be specially designed to house album artwork. These usually have low glare Plexiglas covers. The frame should also fit around your album art snugly. Full length records need 12-inch x 12-inch frames and singles will fit into 7-inch square frames. You should also look for frames that come apart completely.
Disassemble the frame. Take the frame apart so that the Plexiglas or glass separates from the matting and backing.
Remove any matting. The album jacket works as its own matting.
Lay your record album jacket on top of the backing. Squarely align the album art on top of the frame's backing.
Lay the glass on top of the album jacket. Squarely align the backing, the album art, and the glass or Plexiglas.
Reassemble the album jacket. Put the framing back on each side of the album jacket. Make sure that all three parts of your display (the backing, the record album jacket, and the glass) are fastened together by the framing.
