How to Use a Boss PSA-120S Power Supply

The PSA-120s is a 9-volt power supply designed to be used with BOSS foot pedals and other musical products. Designed to compete with third-party power supplies like those made by Godlyke Inc. and others, the transformer no longer blocks multiple power outlets like old-style BOSS power supplies. With 500 milliamps available, the PSA-120s is suitable to power multiple effects when combined with the PCS-20A parallel DC cord to daisy-chain several effects together.

Things You'll Need

  • BOSS effects pedal(s)
  • PCS-20A parallel DC cord (optional)
  • BOSS LS-2, NS-2, or TU-2 guitar pedals (optional)
  • Other 9-volt device(s), (optional)

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the transformer head of the PSA-120s to a wall power socket or an empty outlet on an extension cord. Connect the DC connector to any guitar effect that accepts a 9-volt, center-negative power adapter, usually listed on the effect unit itself. Connect an instrument to the input and an amplifier or mixer to the output and press the pedal to turn it on.

    • 2

Connect several effects by way of a PCS-20a parallel DC cord and a BOSS effect pedal with both a DC In and DC Out jack. These pedals include the LS-2 Line Selector, the NS-2 Noise Suppressor and the TU-2 Tuner. Up to seven additional effects units can be connected to power by inserting the PCS-20A into the DC out jack of the listed effects, and then connected to additional effects in sequence.

    • 3

Connect the PSA-120s in the same manner to other electronic devices such as the BOSS DR series drum machines, DB Series metronomes and TU series tuners. The PSA-120s can be used with any device requiring 9 volts and 500 milliamps or less, using a 5.5-millimeter, center-negative plug.
