How to Bridge a Behringer 2500

The Behringer EP2500 is a stereo power amp that can provide up to 1200 watts per channel for live audio applications, powering two channels of audio. These can be divided to left and right channels or used separately for main and monitor channels. The EP2500 also can deliver 2400 watts of power by bridging the channels together, giving a mono amplifier double the electrical power for use in single-channel applications, such as driving a subwoofer array.

Things You'll Need

  • Audio input cables (XLR connectors or 1/4-inch phone plugs)
  • Speaker cables (Speakon connectors or banana plugs)

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your audio input to the EP2500 "Channel 1" input only, with an XLR connector or 1/4-inch phone plug cable. Do not simultaneously use both. Connect a speaker that has suitable power handling capability to the "Channel 1" output with a Speakon connector. If you connect the speaker with bare wire or banana plug, use the two red posts in the middle of the four-post column.

    • 2

Adjust the "Mode" switches on the rear panel to enable bridged operation. Set switches "6" and "7" to the "Bridge Mode On." position. If you are using limiting or low-frequency cutting, use switches "1" to "3" as needed. Input "2" switches have no effect in bridged mode.

    • 3

Turn the gain control for "Channel 2" fully counterclockwise to prevent internal phase cancellation problems. Power on your audio source, then the EP2500, and set the output level with the gain control for "Channel 1" on the front panel.
