Plug the instruments into the 0404 inputs. This is done through the 1/4 inch short breakout cables that has a left and right side. If you're using a keyboard controller for MIDI (musical instrument digital interface) input, connect a MIDI cable from the output on the controller to the input MIDI breakout cable on the 0404.
Double click on the Patch Mix DSP software icon that was just installed. An interface will appear displaying five channel strips of inputs and outputs.
Play the instrument to insure that you're getting a signal. The appropriate channel strip audio meter will light up, moving horizontally. Adjust the volume if needed to get a clear sound.
Create additional channel strips by clicking the "*" in the top left hand corner. Click on the "x" to delete a strip. To change the settings of a current strip, right click the channel strip and click "Append New Strip."
Click the "FX" button at the top right hand corner of the display. A pop Effects Palette will appear listing several folders. Double-clicking on a folder opens list of different effects. Left click, hold, and drag and drop the desired effect to any Send space. These are located on the specific channels under Inserts, and in the bottom right hand corner under Master Inserts. Drag and drop additional effects into different channel slots and/or change the order if desired.
Click on the effect name. It will highlight the border in orange or yellow depending on which skin is activated. The effect settings will appear in the main display window on the right. Configure the settings by hovering the cursor over the effects bar, holding, then moving horizontally.
Save the effect settings by clicking on "Edit" in the bottom right of the effects window then "Save As User Preset." Name the configuration and click "OK."
Click the "Save" icon at the top of the effects window. Click "Save As," name the session, and click "Save." This will save all settings, including inputs and outputs, volume, pan and any effects being used.
