Called "Virgin Fest" for short, this event primarily features Indie/Rock musical performances over the span of one or two days. The festival debuted in 2006 and has undergone a process of evolution since then. For example, the 2009 Baltimore festival was announced as "FreeFest", an entirely free event featuring popular musical acts. The festival was announced as a free event again for 2010, but free tickets are difficult to come by as they are acquired on a first-come, first served basis. After the free tickets have all been claimed, it is possible to seek out re-sellers via eBay, Craigslist, etc., but many of these sellers gauge prices to exploit the free nature of the event. Examples of headliners for the 2010 FreeFest include M.I.A., Joan Jett, Ludacris, Thievery Corporation and LCD Soundsystem.
This annual festival usually takes place in September and features a mixture of jazz, salsa, reggae, blues, rock and more. Performances are held on three different stages located on S. Charles & Cross Streets in Historic Federal Hill. Enjoy the various musical acts as you walk along tree-lined streets of Federal Hill. There is a variety of family entertainment available during the festival, as well as food and drink vendors to keep everyone satisfied.
This summer festival puts the spotlight on local African artists and bands with various musical performances. Aside from the music, the festival features fashion shows, cultural dances, storytelling, arts and crafts exhibitions, vendors and African food. There are also plenty of activities for children to keep the whole family entertained.
This annual festival features musical performances representing a variety of different countries in celebration of Baltimore's cultural diversity. Besides musical acts, there are ethnic food and drink vendors, arts and crafts exhibitions, international dance performances and a two-day international soccer competition. Admission is free for all ages.
