Austin City Limits Festival is an enormous three-day music festival that takes place in the fall in Austin, Texas. The festival is held in a part of Austin called Zilker Park, which is filled with stages and concessions at the time of the festival. The first festival was held in September 2002. It draws people from all over the United States and usually hosts over 100 acts each year of varying genres of music. The festival is named after the PBS concert series, Austin City Limits.
The CMA Music Festival is a four-day country music festival hosted in Nashville, Tennessee, the country music capital of the United States. It was launched in 1972 and originally known as the Fan Fair. What makes this festival different is that the participating artists play for free in appreciation of their fans. The profits are then donated to various worthy causes, such as music labs in schools.
Lollapalooza is a three-day music festival that focuses on rock, alternative, heavy metal and pop music and takes places in Chicago, Illinois, during the summer. The first Lollapalooza festival occurred in 1991, at which point the festival was actually on tour. Lollapalooza toured from 1991-1997, took a break, was revived and began touring again in 2003, and started centering in Chicago in 2005. It has been taking place annually in Chicago's Grant Park ever since.
The Bonnaroo Music Festival is a four-day music festival that takes place every June in Manchester, Tennessee. Bonnaroo hosts all types of contemporary music, including indie rock, rock and roll, hip-hop and jazz. It is held at Great Stage Park on over 100 acres of land and began in 2002. Along with music, Bonnaroo is also known for art displays and activity tents.
