The Art Gallery at the Civic Center features an art show that rotates every 8 weeks. Each show features the work of local and regional artists. The 2,000 square foot gallery gives the artists a place to display their sculptures, paintings and other artwork to the local community. The free event kicks off with a reception on opening night that includes light refreshments, beverages and live music. The event gives the local community a chance to meet and get to know the artists. You can visit the gallery during weekdays, too.
The Village Square, located in front of Port St. Lucie's Civic Center, offers a large stage set up for live music. During the live performances, food vendors, artists, craftsmen and other merchants display their offerings alongside the seating area. One of the live concert events includes City Fest. City Fest offers a free monthly concert series along with music, food and a classic car show held on the second Friday of each month from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.
The Annual Bonfire and Hayride, going into its 28th year as of 2011, offers a popular country and western event at Digital Domain Park in St. Lucie West. The event features live music and food vendors along with pony rides, hayrides and live animals. The event, sponsored by Port St. Lucie's Parks and Recreation Department, also includes a Cow Chip Toss Contest with winners in each age group awarded prizes. Unlimited participation for all of the activities requires only a $1 admission, as of 2011.
To enjoy live jazz and blues music, head to the Fort Pierce Jazz and Blues Society event held at the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens on Wednesday evenings.
