The Fest is a one day, free Catholic family festival that normally occurs in early August. Live musicand games are provided. Some of the different activities include a scavenger hunt for kids and an “adventure zone” with plenty of games and an obstacle course for all ages. A variety of popular Christian bands and artists that have played here are the Newsboys, the Afters and Matt Maher. Previous years artists include Jars of Clay, Nicole C. Mullen, Brandon Heath and Matthew West. Every year, The Fest has a theme; the theme for 2010 is “Lead Me Home,” which celebrates community, faith and everyday blessings. At the end of the evening, everyone celebrates Mass and the day concludes with fireworks. The Fest is held at the Borromeo and St. Mary’s Seminary in Wickliffe, Ohio.

SonFest takes place in early autumn on the campus of Mount Vernon Nazarene University. There are two stages of music here along with games, festival food and giveaways. Local and national bands play here, with some of the artists this year being Thousand Foot Krutch, Disciple, Fireflight, Group 1 Crew, Manic Drive, John Reuben and other local bands. Admission is $15 a person in advance or $20 per person at the gate. Groups of 10 or more get a special discounted rate of $12 per person. Parking is free. MVNU is located in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

Alive Christian Music Festival is one of the largest Christian festivals nationally. Generally scheduled sometime in mid June, the festival occurs over four days. It is held at Atwood Lake Park. Other events can be enjoyed such as swimming, camping and other recreational activities. Over 50 artists are involved in this huge event including Skillet, TobyMac, Reliant K and Steven Curtis Chapman. Wristbands can be purchased, which includes all events, concerts and seminars and free primitive camping, swimming and parking. Prices vary depending how early in advance you purchase your wristband and if coming in a group of 10 or more, you will receive a discounted rate. Children under the age of 12 are also admitted for a discount. There are also sites available for RVs and motor homes with an extra cost of about $350 to $400 for the course of the festival. You can also choose to attend only one day and you are still given free parking and swimming. Atwood Lake Park is located in Mineral City, Ohio.
