How to Transfer Logic Pro Tracks to Pro Tools

Logic Pro and Pro Tools are digital workstations that enable you to record, mix and master your original music projects at home. Each program contains very different software synthesizers for creating digital music. If you want to use both programs, you must transfer your tracks and recorded audio layers from one to the other. Transferring tracks from Logic Pro to Pro Tools requires just a few steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Logic Pro and locate a track that you want to transfer to Pro Tools. Click the "S" button appearing in the left column of the track. That will place your track in "Solo" mode, silencing all of your other tracks and isolating your selected track.

    • 2

Click "File" on your menu bar and select "Bounce," appearing at the bottom of the pop-up list. When the navigation window appears, select a lossless, uncompressed, high-quality format from the "Destination Format" list. A lossless format would include AIFF or WAV.

    • 3

Choose a destination for your exported file and click "Bounce" in the lower right corner of your dialogue window.

    • 4

Open Pro Tools and create a new audio project by clicking "File," then "New." Drag your exported WAV or AIFF file directly onto your blank project window. A new track will appear, with your Logic recording appearing as a horizontal bar, indicated by a series of wavy lines.

    • 5

Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each additional audio track that you wish to transfer. Drag each audio region to its appropriate spot on the time line, appearing along the top of your screen in both programs, to ensure that your files align appropriately.
