How to Move Tracks Around in the Mix in Logic Pro 8

Logic Pro 8 organizes its tracks according to function, starting with basic audio tracks, then software instruments and MIDI tracks. As you work through your music or audio project, however, you will likely want to reorganize the tracks according to your own needs. Doing this requires a simple drag-and-drop process, but you must know where and how to do it in order for it to work.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the “Window” tab on the menu bar at the top of the page.

    • 2

Select “Arrange” from the dropdown menu. This opens a new window in which your tracks appear stacked on top of one another like long, horizontal bars.

    • 3

Choose a track that you would like to move up or down.

    • 4

Click and hold the track on the far left side, just before the title.

    • 5

Drag the track up or down using your mouse, gliding over each additional track until you choose an appropriate spot. Moving tracks up will move them to the left in the mixer display, and moving tracks down will move them to the right in the mixer display.

    • 6

Drop your track in its new spot by releasing the button on your mouse.

    • 7

Click the “Mixer” tab near the bottom of the main Logic window to view your changes in the main mixer.
