How to Import Tracks From Other Projects in Logic Pro

Logic Pro is an advanced audio recording program useful for professional music production at home. In Logic, you can record, edit, mix and master entire albums, but in some cases, you may want to transfer recordings from one Logic project into another. You may even want to import audio tracks, or recordings, from another program entirely. Logic allows you to perform this operation with just a few clicks.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Logic project to which you want to import tracks. For example, if you want to import a guitar track from Project A into Project B, you would open Project B, the final destination of the imported material. To open any Logic project, open the software, and select "File," "Open" from the menu bar.

    • 2

Click "View" on the Logic menu bar, and select "Media" from the drop-down menu. Click the "Browser" tab on the far right side of your screen. Here you will find a list of all of your saved Logic projects.

    • 3

Select the audio project containing the track(s) that you want to import, using your mouse. Select the actual song file, and not the individual audio files contained within the project folder.

    • 4

Click the "Import" button in the lower right corner of your window. After the song file loads, you will see a list of the individual tracks in your media browser in the right column. This is known as the Track Import View.

    • 5

Highlight the tracks that you want to import. To highlight multiple tracks, hold the "Command" key while clicking each track title. To import them into the current project, click the "Add" button at the bottom of your screen. The tracks will become embedded in your current Logic project, along with any settings, effects or plug-ins.
