How to Change Meters in Cubase

The virtual mixer in Steinberg's Cubase audio software uses meters to display a visual representation of the volume level of each audio channel. These meters allow you to monitor the relative volume levels of different channels and to ensure that no channel's volume is peaking. Cubase's meters change color as the volume level increases; by default, the meter moves from blue to green to yellow to red. If you want to customize the Cubase interface, you can change the meters' colors in the programs preferences section.

Instructions

    • 1

Double-click the Cubase desktop icon to start the program. Click "File," then click "Preferences."

    • 2

Click "Appearances" in the "Preference" window. Click "Meters."

    • 3

Drag the five color handles up and down to set the volume scale for the meter. Each volume handle determines at which point the meter indicator changes color.

    • 4

Click on the lowest handle. Click inside the color wheel to set the color of the handle. Drag the brightness slider to the right of the color wheel up or down to make the handle brighter or darker.

    • 5

Click on the second-highest handle and adjust its color and brightness. Repeat the process for all of the color handles on the volume meter.
