Remove the hardware from your drums. Take each drum apart separately and store the hardware for each drum in a small zipper bag labeled for each drum so you can find it later.
Remove the old wraps to avoid any possible damage that may occur to your drums when you put the new ones on.
Paint the wood with a durable paint. Before painting, sand off any old finish to put a tooth on the wood so it will better hold the new paint. Put on a coat of primer and then several coats of oil-based enamel paint. Oil-based paint is more durable and will wear better. Allow each coat to dry thoroughly between layers.
Put on the new wraps according to the manufacturer's directions.
Reattach hardware from the appropriate storage baggie.
