How to Color a Ballerina

The term ballerina typically refers to a female dancer to is trained in the classic dance form of Ballet. Though we typically think of them as feather-light, agile, fairy-like creatures, it's true that ballerinas come in all shapes and shades. To color a ballerina, you'll have to use some common Ballet accents along with a little imagination.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose colors for the ballerina's clothing first, keeping in mind that ballerinas generally dance in soft pink tights, soft pink slippers, and a leotard in a neutral tone. The purpose of wearing soft, muted colors is so that dancers can focus on the movement and technique of their bodies without distraction. To color a traditional ballerina, stay away from bright or neon shades of clothing.

    • 2

Pick out a color for the skin tone of the ballerina. Since ballet is a dance form that is practiced all over the world, be open to a wide spectrum of skin colors.

    • 3

Color the ballerina's hair using shades that mimic natural hair colors. While red, blonde, brown, and black are appropriate, a ballerina would typically not wear green, blue, or pink hair. Keep it simple for a convincing portrait.
