How to Name Regions on an Apple Logic Express

Logic Express is an audio editing and recording program. It is the "light," or budget-friendly, version of Apple's Logic Pro software, which offers additional features. Using Logic Express, you can organize your recordings into "regions," which look like horizontal shaded regions. Your regions simply contain your recorded material. For instance, your first region might contain a guitar riff, and the second might contain a vocal line. To keep your regions organized, you can label them.

Instructions

    • 1

Open an existing project in Logic Express. You can double-click the project file itself or you can open Logic Express and select "File" and "Open" from the menu bar.

    • 2

Select the "Text" tool. It looks like a vertical line and appears in the upper right corner of your "Arrange" window (the main project window).

    • 3

Click any region that you would like to name, using your mouse. You can click anywhere within the shaded space. A horizontal text box appears. Remember that your regions are all of your recordings, which look like colored horizontal bars. They can appear either red, blue, purple, yellow or green, depending on the type of region.

    • 4

Enter a name for your region and press "Enter." The name now appears in the upper left corner of the region space.
