How to Delete an MP3 From a Burned CD

Deleting an MP3 from a CD is a quick process using the utility software on your computer. It is useful if you want to erase your CD and burn new MP3s or other data to it. You can only delete data from a CD if the CD is rewritable, such as a CD-RW. You cannot erase MP3s from write once CD formats, such as CD-R.

Instructions

  1. On a PC

    • 1

      Insert the burned CD you want to delete an MP3 from into your computer.

      Click the "Start" button and select "Computer."

    • 3

      Click the CD burner icon and then select "Erase this disc."

    • 4

      Follow the steps in the wizard that opens to delete the MP3 from the burned CD.

    On a Mac

      Insert the burned CD you want to delete an MP3 from into your computer.

      Click the "Finder" and select "Applications."

    • 7

      Double-click the "Disc Utility" to open it.

      Click the "Erase" tab inside of "Disc Utility."

      Highlight the burned CD you want to delete an MP3 from.

    • 10

      Click "Erase" to delete the MP3 from the burned CD.
