How to Copy Audio CDs for Playback in a CD Player

Making a copy of a CD is a great way to share your favorite music with friends. You can copy audio CDs for playback in a CD player with software already installed on your computer. If you have a PC, you can use Windows Media Player to copy an audio CD. If you have a Mac, you can use iTunes to copy an CD. Both programs have a similar process to copy a CD.

Instructions

  1. PC

    • 1

      Click the "Start" button, select the "Programs" category, and click "Windows Media Player."

      Place the audio CD you want to copy for playback in the computer's disc tray.

      Click on "Rip CD" inside Windows Media Player.

      Eject the audio CD from your computer, and place a blank CD-R into your computer's disc tray.

      Click on the "Burn" tab in Windows Media Player.

      Drag and drop the songs that were ripped from your audio CD into the "Burn List."

      Click the "Start Burn" button inside of the "Burn List."

      Eject the CD from your computer when the burning process is finished.

    Mac

      Click the "iTunes" icon located in the dock.

      Put the audio CD you want to copy for playback into the computer's disc tray.

      Click "Yes" when iTunes asks if you would like to import the audio CD onto your computer.

      Eject the audio CD after it has been imported, and insert a blank CD-R into your computer's disc tray.

      Click "File," and select "New Playlist."

      Drag and drop the songs that were ripped from your audio CD into the new playlist.

      Click on and highlight the new playlist.

      Click the "Burn Disc" button inside of the new playlist, and then click "Burn."

      Eject the CD from your computer when the burning process is finished.
