How to Create a Personal CD for My Granddaughter

You can create a personal CD for your granddaughter, or anyone for that matter, using your computer. Burning a custom CD makes a great gift for people of all ages. If you have a Windows-based computer, use the preinstalled audio software called Windows Media Player. If you have a Macintosh computer, use its native audio software, iTunes.

  • Computer with CD burner
  • Blank CD-R

Instructions

  1. PC

      Click the "Start" button and choose "Programs."

      Select "Windows Media Player" from the "Programs" list.

      Click the tab labeled "Burn" inside Windows Media Player.

      Drag the songs you want to use to create the CD into the "Burn List" pane.

      Place a blank recordable CD into your computer's CD burner.

      Press the "Start Burn" button and the songs you placed in the "Burn List" will be written to the recordable CD.

    Macintosh

      Click the "Finder" icon and click "Applications."

      Double-click "iTunes" from the "Applications" list.

      Click "File" and select "New Playlist" inside of iTunes.

      Drag the songs you want to use to create the CD into the new playlist you created.

      Click and highlight the playlist.

      Insert a recordable CD into your computer's CD burner.

      Click "Burn Disc" inside of the playlist and the songs you placed in this playlist will be written to the recordable CD.
