Click your cursor into the placeholder text on the banner, which becomes highlighted. Type the new banner message on top, such as “Charity Walk Registration Here” or “Welcome, Animal Lovers.” Highlight the text with your cursor, and change its appearance using the text toolbar at the top of the page.
Right-click the clip art on the left side of the banner. Choose “Change Picture,” and select “Clip Art.” Type a word or phrase, such as “soccer,” “wine glass” or “cat” into the “Search for” box, and click “Go.”

Open Paint, click the “Image” menu and select “Attributes.” Set your banner size, such as 75 inches by 15 inches, and click the “OK” button. A blank, white banner space appears.
Click the “Text” tool, which looks like an “A.” Position your cursor on the banner and type the headline, such as “School Play Tryouts Thursday” or “Book Swap Donations Here.”
Add an additional line of text, telling viewers what room to go to, the dates and times of the event or a contact phone number. This step is optional.
Give the banner a confetti design by clicking the “Airbrush” tool, which looks like a spray can and selecting the large whirl head. Choose a paint color from the “Color Picker,” and click around the white space of the banner. Change paint colors, and keep clicking for a multi-colored effect.
Pull down the “File” menu, click “Save As,” give the banner a name and save it to your computer.
Open Word, click the “File” menu and select “New.” The “New Document” pane opens on the right side of the screen. Type “banner” into the “Search online for” box. You can search more specific, such as “sports banner” or “election banner,” but you’ll receive fewer results.
Scroll through the results. Click a preview link to see the banner, and click the “Download” button to open it in your Word workspace.
Highlight a placeholder line of text on the banner. Type directly over it with your own banner headline, such as “Go Texas Wildcats!” or “I Love Maine Coon Cats.” Highlight the new words and use the text toolbar at the top of the page to change their appearance.
Click once on a placeholder graphic on the banner, and then press the “Delete” key to remove it. Add a new image by clicking “Insert,” then “Picture” and then “Clip Art.” Search for a word or phrase, click “Go,” and double-click one of the resulting images to add it to your banner.
Click the “File” menu, and select “Save As.” Name the banner and select a place to save it to on your computer, such as the desktop.
