Decide what initials you will use; your first and last or your first, last and middle initials.
Open a word processing document and test out different font types, font sizes, colors and styles for the monogram. Don't be afraid to overlap letters or even fuse letters together to form shapes or designs.
Experiment with different borders and shapes for the monogram, such as a square monogram seal, a circular seal or an oval-shaped seal, using the text box or shape creating tools in the word processing program tools palette.
View the monogram in both black and white, as well as in color. It will likely be printed or copied both ways at some point and the monogram must be clearly legible in both printings.
Add a touch of imagery to the monogram, if desired. Any images or extra shapes must carefully be added. Since you are working within the small perimeters of a monogram seal, an added image must be subtle and small in size. For example, add a small flower silhouette at the edge of the monogram.
Insert label paper into the printer and print the monogram onto the labels. Most labels come in rectangular shape, which corresponds well with preset printing options. Therefore, if printing a rounded or circular seal, some trimming of the label might be necessary.
