How to Put Music on Ableton Live 8

Before you can start DJing or editing music with Ableton Live 8, you'll need to load music files into the program. Put single audio clips into Ableton to use them as samples; load full-length songs into the program to create a DJ mix set. Ableton supports music clips in the WAV, AIFF and MP3 formats, as well as loops recorded in the ReCycle REX format. Use Windows Explorer to quickly and efficiently put music into Ableton Live.

      Click the "Start" menu button. Click "Ableton," then "Live 8." Click the "Live 8" icon to launch the program.

      Click the "Start" menu button again, then click "Computer." Navigate to the folder containing the first music file you want to put into Ableton Live 8.

      Click the music file to highlight it, then press "Ctrl" and "C" simultaneously. Click the Ableton icon in the taskbar to switch to Live 8.

      Right-click inside an empty clip slot in the "1 Audio" channel. Select "Paste" from the context menu that appears to put the music file into Ableton. Repeat the process for any other music files that you want to put into Ableton.
