Select the audio track you want to split into separate tracks by clicking on it.
Click to open the drop-down menu attached to the track, which is typically located on the left side with the panning, mute and solo options. Select "Split Stereo Tracks" or "Split into Mono" - these are labeled differently based on the program, and this method works in Audacity and Pro Tools. If the track does not have any controls attached to it, skip to the next step.
Click "File." Choose an option that allows you to save the contents of the project as an audio file, such as "Bounce" or "Export As." Locate the item that determines what type of track to save, such as "joint stereo" or "mono," for example. Select an item that splits the track. The item might be labeled "Split" or "Split Mono." This method works in Logic. If this method does not work in your application, skip to the next step.
Click "Edit" or "Track" in the menu bar. Select the item that splits the track. It might be labeled "Split" or "Create Mono Pair."
