Log onto the Internet and navigate to the Beatportal website. This site provides Beatport musicians and customers with up-to-date news regarding their label and artist directory, as well as upcoming contests.
Click the "Remix Contest" link on the left side of the screen. This directs you to a list of current remix competitions that are being held by various artists and their record labels.
Scroll through the list to find an artist that you desire to remix, then click the "Listen, Vote, Enter" link at the bottom-right of the contest's description. Further details, including due dates for submissions, will be shown on the next screen.
Click the download link that contains the samples needed to compose your remix. Choose the "Sign up for Beatport" link with your mouse once the pop-up login screen appears. Fill out the fields on the next screen with your account and login information. Alternatively, enter your username and password into the appropriate fields if you have already created a Beatport account once the pop-up screen comes up.
Proceed with checkout to complete the sample pack download. Pay for the download using one of the preferred payment methods, such as a credit card or PayPal account.
Use the samples to complete the remix by the deadline stated in the contest's description. The description also tells you when to check back with the Beatportal website for the next stage of the competition, which is when you are informed of how the track is to be submitted.
Submit the track as requested in the contest's description, and then wait for the voting to be completed and the winner to be announced. Repeat the entire process for as many remix contests as you would like to enter, until your track is chosen for release on the Beatport website.
Log onto the Internet and navigate to the Beatportal website. Click on the "Music News" link on the left-side of the screen to be directed to the community feed, which contains posts from record labels looking to sign new recording artists.
Select one of the posts written by a record label accepting submissions. Read through the details of what is looked for by the label, what is required by the artist (such as bit-depth renderings of your WAV track), and any other details that pertain to the process of submitting your original music. Some labels are genre-specific, so choose from ones that match your musical characteristics as well.
Send your track to the submissions email account listed at the bottom of the record label's post. Some labels may offer musicians with a physical mailing address for sending the track to them as well.
Wait to be contacted by the label for acceptance of the track. Once contacted, a written contract is usually sent allowing the record label to have permission to distribute and sell the musical content. Send all required documents back to the label after filling out and signing them appropriately, and wait for the track to appear for sale on Beatport's website.
