Canada Council for the Arts awards grants, fellowships and other awards to artists of all types, including musicians. Some of these grants come from the Canadian government itself while others are given by private endowments that fall under the council umbrella. The Robert Fleming Prize is a $2,000 grant given to up-and-coming classical composers. The Walter Carsen Prize for Excellence in Performing Arts is a $50,000 grant given to Canadian professionals in dance, theater and music. The Molson Prizes are two $50,000 prizes given to individuals in either the arts or social sciences and humanities. To be eligible for the prizes, applicants must be either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident unless the rules indicate otherwise.

The Puffin Foundation awards grants to new artists who are in one of the following fields: art, music, theater, photography, dance and literature. These grants are given to artists who have trouble gaining exposure for their work due to social philosophy, gender or race. These grants generally range from $1,000 to $2,500 and are open to applicants across the U.S. U.S. citizens and permanent residents may apply, and the award is also open to U.S. citizens working on projects in other countries.

The Alabama State Arts on the Council strives to promote the arts and artists of Alabama via grants and other awards. It gives out $5,000 grants to individual Alabama artists in the following fields: crafts, design, dance, photography, music, literature, theater and visual arts.
