The Brooklyn Arts Council, commonly referred to as BAC, awards fiscal sponsorship to individuals and organizations based on demonstrated artistic merit in an application and project proposal. The Brooklyn Arts Council supports projects that will benefit the Brooklyn community and local artists.

The Arts Center of the Capital Region awards grants to individuals and organizations. Individuals can apply for a strategic opportunity stipend or for the NYFA MARK grant. Both of these grants are designed to help artists living outside of New York City to develop their careers, gain visibility and make connections in the art world.

The Bronx Council on the Arts awards a variety of grants to individuals and organizations. Individuals can apply for the Bronx Recognizes Its Own (BRIO) grant for Bronx artists or the Arts-in-Education grant for work in Bronx schools. The Council also offers a fellowship for writers and literary artists each year.

The New York Foundation for the Arts, commonly referred to as NYFA, awards many $7,000 fellowships each year to individuals living in New York and working in a variety of artistic media. NYFA began this fellowship program in 1985. NYFA also awards Strategic Opportunity Stipends of $100 to $600 for career development, as well as the Basil H. Alkazzi Award for Excellence in Painting.
