Comedy Clubs in Burlington, Vermont

Burlington is a fairly small city of less than 40,000 people. However, it's the largest city in the state of Vermont. It is home to a number of colleges, which flavor the ever-changing comedy scene with a strong youthful vibe. Although there are not any pure comedy clubs in the city, there is a strong comedy scene that is found in a number of clubs and venues.

  1. Higher Ground

    • Higher Ground is a well-known entertainment venue that features a comedy series on select nights throughout the month. The various acts include stand-up comedy from local comics, as well as well-known seasoned comedians making a stop on their tours. The club offers three full-service bars and serves a full late-night menu, including such bar staples as nachos and sliders.

    Flynn Center for the Performing Arts

    • The Flynn Center is a multifaceted entertainment venue that is home to the comedy series "Stand Up, Sit Down, and Laugh." The monthly show features performances in its 180-seat cabaret space by popular regional comedians and local favorites, including Tony Bates, Andrew Knox, Maryanne Gatos and Josie Leavitt. The venue also offers a stand-up comedy class in which you can learn the elements of comedy; you may then practice your own material in front of a real audience.

    The Comedy Zone at The Radisson Hotel

    • The Comedy Zone at the Radisson Hotel features two comedians every Friday and Saturday night in its main hotel lounge. There is a full bar and an ever changing line-up of local and visiting comics. The hotel also offers an incredible view of Lake Champlain and a prime downtown location.

    Monkey House

    • Monkey House is a local funky bar and music venue that regularly holds comedy nights featuring local comedians. There is a full bar with great beers on tap and a pool table as well. The club is technically located in Winooski; it's approximately one mile from the University of Vermont in Burlington.

    Ri Ra Irish Pub

    • Ri Ra Irish Pub is situated on Church Street in an old stone building built in 1931. It offers comedy nights every Thursday. The bar features comedians from out of town making one their tour stops along the comedy circuit.
