Massachusetts Television Stations

If you are new to the Massachusetts area, you may not know what channels to turn to for your favorite networks. The preview guide channel or just a good old-fashioned TV guide would be the most helpful to assist you in your Massachusetts viewing pleasure. Whether you want to watch sports, religious shows, syndicated comedies, or news in Spanish, Massachusetts TV stations have something for everyone.
  1. WBPX

    • This is the ION network and is channel 68 in Boston. This network primarily airs infomercials. It also airs daily Catholic mass as well as other religious programming.

    WBZ

    • This is a CBS-owned network and is channel 4 in Boston. It is credited with being the first commercial station in Boston and the New England area. When the station launched in 1948 it aired live broadcasts of the two Boston baseball teams at the time: the Braves and the Red Sox.

    WCDC

    • This is an ABC-owned network and is channel 19 in Adams. This station operates as a full-time satellite. It covers western Massachusetts, northern Connecticut, southern Vermont, and the southwest region of New Hampshire.

    WCVB

    • This is an ABC-owned network and is channel 5 in Boston. In the 1970s, WCVB had a show called "Good Morning," which is the basis for the format of "Good Morning America."

    WDPX

    • This is the ION network, servicing the Cape Cod area, and is channel 58. This network is known for its infomercials and religious programming.

    WFXT

    • This is a Fox Broadcasting Company and is channel 25 in Boston. In the 1990s some of the network's more popular shows were "The Cosby Show," "Married With Children," "Family Matters," "The Simpsons," and "Roseanne."

    WGBH

    • This station is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service and is channel 2 in Boston. This is a noncommercial broadcast service with programs like "NOVA," "This Old House," and "American Experience."

    WGBY

    • This station is also a member of the Public Broadcasting Service and is channel 57 in Springfield. Founded in 1971, WGBY is a subdivision of WGBH's Educational Foundation. WGBY broadcasts Spanish programming periodically.

    WGGB

    • This is an ABC-affiliated network and is channel 40 in Springfield. Syndicated shows on WGGB include "Family Feud," "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," and "The Insider."

    WHDH

    • This is an NBC-affiliated network and is channel 7 in Boston. WHDH is owned by Sunbeam Television and airs "7 News." Two of their notable former employees are Chuck Scarborough, with WNBC in New York, and Matt Lauer, currently the co-host of "Today" on NBC, as of 2010.

    WUNI

    • This station is a Univision affiliate and is channel 27 in Boston. This is a Spanish-speaking network. UNI stands for Univision Nueva Inglaterra, which means New England Univision.
