How to Create a Snapshot From a DVD Movie

Snapshots from a DVD movie can make great desktop wallpapers, or perhaps aid an academic presentation. Whatever your use, taking snapshots from a DVD can be very simple. There are several methods for capturing screenshots; choose the one that suits you best.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer with DVD drive
  • DVD player software
  • Screen capture software

Instructions

      Insert the DVD into your computer. Wait for the drive to read the DVD.

      Open your DVD player software. Some DVD software, such as VLC player and PowerDVD (see links in the Reference section below), include screen capture utilities within the program.

      Run a screen capture utility. These programs will take a picture of what is displayed on your screen. Popular screen capture utilities include Snagit and Snapz Pro X (see links in the Resource section below).

      Play your DVD. Navigate to your preferred frame in the movie. Pause the movie and switch the player into full-screen mode.

      Capture your image using the screen capture utility. Make sure you specify where your screen grabs are stored. You must navigate to this location to access your screenshots.
