North Georgia Square Dance Clubs

The official folk dance of Georgia, square dancing involves four couples or groups of four couples performing in a compressed framework of a square, where each couple forms a corner. Traditionally accompanied by a fiddle, banjo, accordion and guitar, modern square dancing clubs mainly use recordings instead of a live band. The couples learn movements and patterns as they listen to the sung prompts of a caller. Cooperative movement is the trademark of expert square dancers.
