Instructions

    • 1

Face the middle of the room with your feet together and hands at your sides. Starting with you right foot, take four steps forward. The proper way to walk while country dancing is to plant your heel first, then your toes. This breaks each step into two beats.

    • 2

Step to your right, sliding your left foot to meet your right. Repeat. Then step to your left sliding your right foot to bring your feet together. Repeat.

    • 3

Step forward with your right foot. Step forward with your left foot, placing it behind the right foot. Turn right on the ball of the right foot. This should spin you around to face front again. Put your left foot down and clap. Repeat, but start with your left foot and reverse everything.

    • 4

Lift your right knee and swing it to the right. Your right foot lands a bit behind where it started. Do the same with the left knee and foot. Repeat again with the right knee.

    • 5

Jump once. Upon landing place your right foot in front of the left. Jump again and twist so that your right side is toward the center of the room. Land with your feet apart.

    • 6

Cha-cha forward twice beginning with your right foot. Lunge forward on your left foot. Shift weight to your right foot without lifting the left foot. This is called a rock and recover. Cha-cha forward twice on the left foot this time. Lunge forward on your right foot and then rock and recover.

    • 7

Step to the right, bending your knees. Bring your left foot to your right foot and straighten your knees as you go. This is called a shimmy step. Shimmy step to the right again.

    • 8

Begin again from the top. Repeat until the end of the song.
