How to Do the 2NE1 Lollipop Dance

"Lollipop" is a hit pop song performed by South Korean group 2NE1. The name is pronounced "21" and is also meant to stand for "New Evolution of the 21st Century." The four-member girl group is a leading proponent of the Asian hip-hop style called K-pop. "Lollipop" became popular when it was featured in a cellphone commercial for electronics company LG in South Korea. The song is performed in a fluid blend of Korean and English. Its catchy dance steps are taught in a special slow-motion version of the video available on several websites and on YouTube.

Bend your knees. Keeping your knees together and moving fully bent arms together in opposition to your knees, move across the floor, keeping your weight over the balls of the feet. There are four beats and related movements to a set: heels toward the right, then toes toward the right, then heels toward the right, then toes toward the right. Do this three times: move to the right, reverse to go toward the left, and to the right again. The accompanying lyrics are: "Lolly, lolly, lolly pop/oh lolly lolly pop/lolly lolly lolly pop."

The lyrics are "Oh lolly POP POP." Optional: on the fourth beat of each set, lift the non-weight-bearing foot.
