How to Turf Dance

Turf dancing, with "turf" standing for "Taking up Room on the Floor," is a popular street dance in the city of Oakland, California. Turf dancing, which can be seen at a variety of local street car races known as "sideshows," can be a challenging dance to learn without proper instruction. Hip hop music is recommended when attempting to perform the dance, due to its heavy drum beat and fast tempo. Correct footwork, posture and rhythm all must be mastered in order to achieve good results.
