City Limits is one of the few gay clubs in Nebraska that is open all night. It has DJs on the weekend and a large dancing area. Their clientele favors house and hard house music. Desert Rose Saloon is not as classy as City Limits. They offer loud dance music most nights and cheap mixed drinks and draft beer. Both bars can be found in downtown Grand Island, and neither are places to go for a quiet drink.
Omaha has a large number of gay venues. The Max prides itself on being the premier five state area gay venue, hosting circuit parties twice annually. With over 12,000 square feet, The Max has room for a main dance floor, upstairs lounge, outdoor patio, and their Arena theater, which hosts over 50 shows a year. It has been featured in both the New Yorker magazine and the New York Times. Joy is the competing dance club, with DJs four nights a week. Aces, Club Olis, Diamond Bar, D.C.'s Saloon, and Gilligan's Pub serve clientele that prefer a quiet and intimate atmosphere over loud, hard house music.
South Forty offers weekly drag shows, latin dance performances, and burlesque acts. They also host private parties upon request. Our Fantasy Complex serves as a community center as well as a gay club. They host drag performances, Miss Gay Nebraska pageants, karaoke nights, wet t-shirt contests, and dance parties. They also hold a large annual Mardi Gras party for the local gay community.
Lincoln has two gay bars in town. Panic has a reputation as being a dive bar. They offer $1 bottled domestic beers, have computers at the bar for checking Facebook, and have a pleasant fenced patio. Q is a little classier and more expensive, and is quite popular with the straight community. They have DJs on their busier nights, as well as a large back-room dance floor and VIP lounge.
