Medusa's Nightclub, also known as Mission, is one of the most popular nightclubs in Elgin housing some of the best DJs and hottest crowds in the city. It is a three-level club with two dance floors, warm seating areas, and high-tech light and sound system. Gays flock to Medusa's on Wednesday nights when Medusa's celebrates it Mile High Club exclusively for gays. Because of its exclusive offerings, Medusa's Night Club remains a hub for the partying gay public.
Formerly the Foxhole Pub, Afterset is a late-night bar that is open on weekends only. It is well-known for its after-hours shows that feature some of the best DJs in town known for playing up-to-date music with freestyle mixes. Though it is not officially marketed as a gay bar, the majority of its crowd consists of gays and lesbians, hence its reputation as a gay bar.
If you don't like the gay bars and pubs in Elgin, you can move to other neighborhoods where many gay bars and gay pubs thrive. Not far from Elgin is another gay bar called Cell Block. It is located in North Halsted and is very popular for its gay events, such as Mr. Cell-Block and Mr. Leather. It also invites performers from its neighbor towns, like Elgin, to perform for free on Fridays and Saturdays.
Buck's Saloon is one of the oldest gay bars in the neighborhood, thriving for more than 20 years now. It is also located in North Halsted and has attracted customers from the third sex genre. Aside from the main bar, Buck's Saloon boasts of its outdoor beer garden which helps create a friendlier atmosphere. To attract more customers, Buck's Saloon throws free cookout parties in its outdoor beer garden with the theme "Drink here, fight at home, dance across the street."
