Choreographer Ric Silver invented the Electric Slide, otherwise known as the Electric. You often see people dancing to the Electric Slide at weddings because it has become such a popular wedding dance. The next time you are at a wedding and the DJ plays the Electric Slide, get up and dance. Here are the steps:
• Step to the right, left foot behind, right step and clap.
• Step to the left, right foot behind, left step and clap.
• Take three steps backward, alternating left and right foot.
• Lean back on right foot, lean forward on right foot (do this two times each).
• Bring knee up, step to the right and turn to the left.
• Repeat the same steps until the song ends.
The Cupid Shuffle originated in 2007, after an artist known as Cupid hit the airwaves. It has been a popular soulful line dance ever since. Here's how to do the Cupid Shuffle:
• Step your right foot to the side, step your left foot together (repeat three more times on the beat).
• Step your left foot to the side, step your right foot together (repeat three more times on the beat).
• Kick your right foot out, left foot together.
• Kick your left foot out, right foot together.
• Kick your right foot out, left foot together.
• Kick your left foot out, right foot together.
• Turn counter-clockwise to the left in eight small steps.
• Repeat the same steps until the song ends.
The Stomp is also known as the Cha Cha Slide. The Stomp was designed by DJ Casper in 1996, and has grown in popularity ever since. The steps are easy to follow because DJ Casper actually leads you through them on the song. Here are the steps:
• Do the grapevine to the left (left step, right behind, left step).
• Take two steps back.
• Hop forward once.
• Stomp on the right foot.
• Stomp on the left foot.
• Cha-cha in place.
• Grapevine to the right.
• Clap your hands along to the beat of the music.
• Slide to the left.
• Slide to the right.
• Twist to the floor, and back up.
• Place hands on knees and knock them together.
• Jump with both feet.
• Strike a pose.
• Repeat the steps as DJ Casper guides you along.
