Country Dance Clubs Near Clearwater

According to the city's website, Clearwater, FL, got its name from the clear, freshwater springs that once seeped from the banks into the bay. Now, those springs are gone, but this Tampa Bay town attracts tourists for its small-town atmosphere, beautiful beaches, and proximity to larger cities like Tampa and St. Petersburg. Within the Clearwater area, there are some great and rowdy country dancing clubs.

  1. Gunslinger's

    • Just north of the Clearwater airport is a large, rowdy country dance club called Gunslinger's Saloon. Open Tuesday through Saturday, Gunslinger's offers a different theme for each day of the week, including a karaoke night and southern rock night. Every week, the club brings in a special dance instructor to teach lessons for $5.

      Gunslinger's offers more diversity in music choice than most Country-Western bars, which may be a good or bad thing, depending on your perspective. They also have an impressive "sports area" set up with TVs and pool tables, on the opposite side of the dance floor. This makes Gunslinger's a sort of multi-purpose Country dance club and sports bar.

    The Round Up

    • Just a short drive inland from the coast is the Round Up, which features lively country music and even offers line-dancing lessons. This is a large and spacious club, with a giant dance floor and three separate bars, which alleviate some of the long waiting you might experience at other places.

    Dallas Bull

    • The Dallas Bull is another great country dance bar right across the bay from Clearwater in Tampa. There's a small cover charge, which is higher for those under 18, but a nice perk is that they offer free dance classes every night that they are open. The club is a frequent concert venue for country musicians, who play on the large stage in front, setting the Dallas Bull apart from some other clubs. It also features a mechanical, bucking bull, which you can ride or simply watch as people give it a go.

    Spurs

    • Another impressive country bar in the Clearwater area is Spurs, right on the other side of the bay in Tampa. The bar also offers line-dancing classes, and their website even has printouts of the dance steps for the different songs they play. Spurs is only open Friday and Saturday nights. They note on their site that they are gay-owned and gay-operated, but welcome all dancers. They also offer a nice open patio and tiki bar area in the back, giving patrons a chance to step outside and enjoy the warm, Florida nights.
