Dance Clubs Near Waterbury, CT

Originally settled in 1674, Waterbury is the fifth largest city in Connecticut. Called "The Brass City" due to its success as the head of the nation's brass industry, Waterbury is considered a city of neighborhoods where privately owned shops, boutiques and authentic eateries dot the street corners. Waterbury is home to a handful of theaters and museums, as well as several pubs and a dance club. Other clubs are nearby. Waterbury is also within close proximity to locations like Hartford, the state's capital.
  1. Sin City

    • Located in Waterbury, Sin City is one of the largest nightclubs in New England. The state-of-the-art venue features over 20,000 square feet of party space and boasts a cutting-edge video and lighting system. Sin City is home to the state's lone oxygen bar, where patrons pay to inhale concentrated oxygen. There are also hydraulic dancing cages.

      The club's VIP drink menu features upscale options including Perrier-Jouët, Johnnie Walker, Cristal and Remy Louis XIII. Open Thursday through Saturday nights, Sin City hosts celebrities, DJs and recording artists for periodic special events.

    Illusions Dance Club

    • Established in 1984, the family-owned and operated Illusions Dance Club is found 10 miles north of Waterbury in nearby Wolcott. The club hosts DJs and live bands Wednesday through Saturday nights. As of January 2011, dance lessons are offered 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, after which dancers can put those moves into action to country tunes until 10 p.m.

      Drink specials, free pool games and a DJ are featured on Thursdays. Guests have the opportunity to take a turn on the mechanical bull on Fridays and Saturdays, while the club's 10 pool tables, video games, Foosball table and dart boards are available nightly. Illusions also houses a full-service restaurant.

    Cloud 9 Lounge

    • Nestled on historic Congress Street on the outskirts of downtown Hartford, Cloud 9 is about 32 miles northeast of Waterbury. Touted as the city's "premier micro lounge," the club features a 40-foot-long glass bar and a variety of signature cocktails. Open nightly, Cloud 9 Lounge hosts a DJ on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday nights, while a selection of Latin-inspired beats, including salsa, meringue and cumbia, plays on Viva la Vida Viernes (Friday).

    Palace

    • Palace, also in Hartford, is located 31 miles from Waterbury. Situated on Allyn Street in the heart of downtown, this multi-leveled venue features an expansive dance space and sponsors a variety of events throughout the year. Palace offers Thursday-night drink specials with no cover charge, while Fridays usher in DJ-spun hip-hop, reggae and R&B tunes. VIP tables may be booked in advance.
