Eleuthera Book Club was founded in August 1999 and meets in the evenings on the third Thursday of every month, each time at a different location. With a name that means freedom, Eleuthera welcomes those interested in reading and discussing a variety of African American Books, along with socializing and making new friends. Their goal is to remain productive within their community by inspiring all people, especially children, to read.
This club, which is open to all African-American men and women, reads and discusses both fiction and non-fiction books, meeting once every six weeks. Although initially based in Greenville, the African American Sister-Brother Book Club meets all over South Carolina, including Anderson, Columbia and Charleston.
