Fun, Easy & Cheap Crafts

Not all crafts have to be complex and made with expensive and hard-to-find materials. There are many fun, easy and cheap crafts that you can make with a little time and imagination. You probably have most of the things that you'll need un your own home.
  1. Notepads

    • Use scratch paper that you have at home and cut the paper to the size you want your notepad to be. For example, you can cut bond paper quarters to create a smaller notepad. Use a ruler to fold your crease to get a nice straight line. Once you have enough paper for the thickness that you want your notepad to be, pack it tightly so all the pieces of paper are lined together. Use a paintbrush to spread a thick layer of glue over one of the edges of the paper stack. When the glue dries, you have a new notepad to use.

    Paper Mache Bowl

    • To make a paper mache bowl, blow up a rubber balloon to the size bowl you want to create. Prepare a mixture of equal parts white glue and water. Cut strips of newspaper or scratch paper and dip it into the glue mixture. Stick the strips of paper on the balloon layer by layer until you have the shape of a bowl that you desire. Hang the balloon by the end using a clothespin and allow the glue to dry overnight. When dry, carefully pop the balloon with a pin. When the balloon completely deflates, remove it and you are left with a paper mache bowl. Decorate the bowl with acrylic paint.

    Mosaic Vase

    • To create a mosaic vase, you'll need a clean glass bottle or jar, some colored tissue paper and glue. Mix the glue with equal parts water. Cut out pieces of different colored tissue paper and dip the tissue into the glue. Cover the glass jar or bottle with pieces of tissue, placing them randomly and overlapping to create additional colors. Let the tissue dry at least overnight before using mosaic vase.

    Wax Crayons

    • If you have a box of old crayons, you can make new crayons in different shapes by using cookie cutters. Remove the paper labels from the crayons, segregating like colors, then breaking them into small pieces. Place the crayons one color at a time into a glass jar and place it in a pot of boiling water. Place the cookie cutters on a tray lined with wax paper and pour the melted crayons into the cutters. Once they cool and are completely hardened, pop them out and you now have new crayons.
