Create a collage that focuses on a theme or your personal interests. Cut a large piece of paper into an interesting shape that suits the theme, or leave it as is. Then, draw any images, shapes or letters you wish to include on a separate piece of paper. Cut them out and arrange them on the base paper, pasting or taping them in place. Be creative in your arrangement. Feel free to overlap images or place them in a manner that evokes a theme or message. A collage can be as beautiful or meaningful as you'd like it to be.
Make a flag to represent a country, fictitious or real. This is a great activity for teaching children about flags of the world. Cut out a piece of construction paper in the shape of a flag. Then decorate it to suit the country, using basic art supplies such as crayons, markers or acrylic craft paints. If no additional supplies are available, simply cut out other pieces of paper into the desired shapes and paste them in place. You may choose to include a symbol as many countries do, or even to scrawl the country's name across it. Get creative, perhaps dreaming up the country's history as you work. This flag can be hung on a wall or placed in a scrapbook to look back on fondly in the future.
