Instructions

    • 1

Remove the old fabric from the footstool. You may need to remove staples with pliers. Make sure no rough edges remain on the stool. Replace a layer of foam if desired.

    • 2

Measure the length and width of the stool cushion and cut fabric 4 to 6 inches larger on all sides.

    • 3

Place the fabric on top of the foam, flip the stool over and staple one or two staples on each side, pulling the fabric tight. Fill in the staples along all sides. Press any wrinkles out with the iron.

    • 4

Copy patterns for the seat and back cushions by tracing the design and adding 5/8 of an inch all the way around for the seam allowance.

    • 5

Using the patterns cut two pieces of fabric for both the seat and back cushions.

    • 6

Pin the fabric right sides together, then stitch around each cover. Leave an opening at the bottom to allow the cushion to be inserted. Turn inside out and press.

    • 7

Insert the cushion into new cover. Whip stitch or machine close the opening.

    • 8

Attach ribbon ties to the top of the back cushion and sides of the seat cushion.
Tie the cushions to chair seat and back.
