How to Design a Yearbook Cover

It is easy to lose contact with friends after you leave school or college. Yearbooks not only serve as a record, something to keep with you for the rest of you life, they are a handy contact prompt. A yearbook cover design should be a reflection of the personalities and interests of all those in your school year. There are many companies offering yearbook services and the end result will likely be more professional. Uploading your own cover design gives a more personal feel to the yearbook.

Instructions

    • 1

Browse through examples of past yearbook cover designs to get ideas. Your school or college may well keep old yearbooks that you can look at, and there are numerous examples online.

    • 2

Sketch some potential cover images by hand or computer program such as Paint Shop or InDesign. Show the designs to the rest of your class. Ask for feedback and input and have them vote on which one to use.

    • 3

Keep the design neutral. Include photos of individuals, if you wish, but make sure those included are representative of the class, not just your friends. An image of the college or its logo can be better for the cover; personal pages are more suitable for photos of friends.

    • 4

Scan the cover design onto your computer, if it has been done by hand, as a PDF or JPEG file.

    • 5

Use a professional service to produce the yearbook. Ask local companies for their bids or find a company online.
