Just four miles east of downtown Dallas on two landscaped acres, the Creative Arts Center of Dallas is a non-profit arts organization that has been in operation since 1965. The center offers a wide selection of classes, workshops and seminars in everything from pottery to photography; it is open to the general public. The organization also offers art outreach programs to DFW area schools and job training programs in metal and stone arts. Founded in 1936, Casa Manana is the largest performing arts organization in Fort Worth. It's a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve the art of theater for future generations. The season at Casa Manana features a full selection of the best of Broadway musicals, as well as musical theater performances by an in-house theater group for children. Casa Manana runs an extensive list of outreach programs, including a conservatory program for aspiring performance artists, theater workshops in local schools and performances in nursing homes and hospitals. Housed in a renovated historic pumping station in downtown Dallas, the Sammons Center for the arts is a non-profit organization that is home to twelve different arts organizations of various disciplines. The Sammons Center for the Arts offers low cost performance and rehearsal space--as well as administrative support--to the Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, the Dallas Swing Dance Society, the New Texas Symphony and nine other organizations. Charitable contributions to the Sammons Center for the Arts go to upkeep of the historic building and facility spaces.
