The Overlook Theater Company makes its home at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts. The company was established in 1996 with the goal of providing quality family entertainment. The company holds public auditions under the guidance of artistic director Scotty Corbin. The troupe generally presents classic favorites such as "Sound of Music," "Guys and Dolls," "Narnia," "The Wizard of Oz" and Disney's "Aladdin." Ticket prices range from $10 to $13, at the time of publication.
The Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts also showcases a variety of musical and other performances as well as movies. Featured performers include acts such as the Glen Miller Orchestra, the Osmond Brothers, Lee Greenwood and Louise Mandrell, the Ditchfield Family Singers, the Golden Dragon Acrobats and Al Jardine's Endless Summer Band. Movies are generally family fare such as "African Cats," "Some Like it Hot," "The Maltese Falcon," and "The Birds." Movie ticket prices were $3 at the time of publication.
The Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts may be rented for performance events. The main floor consists of 23 rows of continental-style seating that accommodates 1,018 guests. The balcony, which has riser seating, seats 415 guests in seven rows. The stage has more than 3,000 square feet and a 60-foot opening that can accommodate many types of shows and performances. The theater has state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, as well as a large projection screen that fills the center of the stage. The center also has private reception and meeting rooms for rent.
