How to Make Paper Tiger Claws

There's nothing quite as fun as being creative and playing around using simple crafting supplies found around the house and your imagination. And if you aren't already a kid, this kind of activity can make you feel like one again. Now, one of the easiest objects to unleash your imagination upon is good old paper. It can be folded into cool shapes, drawn on, scrunched up into mock sports balls to kick and throw around and so much more. Another interesting thing you can do with paper is to fold it into claws like the ones tigers have. Even though this process may sound difficult at first, success comes naturally after a few attempts.

Instructions

    • 1
      Start with a blank sheet of paper.

      Fold the top right corner of your sheet of paper back towards the left side of the paper so that the top of the sheet now lines up with the left side of the sheet, forming what looks like a big triangle on top of a long rectangle.

      Fold the top pointed left part of the paper down so that the point is exactly touching the bottom left corner of the sheet of paper and the left side is once again lined up. This should form what looks like two triangles and a trapezoid missing the right triangular end.

      Now fold the right side with the missing end of the trapezoid over towards the left side, but only enough to form a square. If you fold the right side over too far or too little and instead form a rectangle, the claw won't look like a claw when you're done.

      Turn the newly-formed square one-and-a-half times counterclockwise, or 90 degrees, plus an extra 45 degrees so that your paper is now a diamond shape. Fold the half of the diamond in front of you towards the other half of the diamond, forming a single triangle pointing away from you.

      Turn the triange so that it's pointing toward you. Then fold the right side of the triangle toward the middle so that the right side now lines up with the center, and the corner is hanging over the edge. Cross the left side all the way over the previous fold, forming what resembles the tip of an arrow.

      Flip the arrow tip over, exposing a portion of your future claw, that will be hang out. Manipulate this section of folds that hang out by squeezing the left and right sides of it, forming a pocket. Tuck and completely fold the point on the other side of the yet-to-be claw into that pocket. The better you tuck and fold it, the more resilient and sturdy your claw will be. You should now have what resembles a small torch with an even smaller flame.

      Finally, spread the open end of the small flame of the torch forming the pocket in which you will place your finger. Place your finger deep into your final product. Voila! You have created a tiger claw. Repeat the process nine more times for a full set of tiger claws and then go have fun being a tiger.
