How to Make a Tetrahedron Object

A tetrahedron is a polyhedron with four faces that mostly resembles a pyramid with a triangular base. All sides are equilateral triangles that converge at every vertex. A tetrahedron can be folded from a single sheet of paper using simple origami techniques. Constructing tetrahedron objects is simple, since it only requires one material and little assembly time. Such models can be used to explore volume and area relationships through geometrical analysis, as well.

Instructions

    • 1

Fold an 8.5- by 11- inch paper in half lengthwise. Crease the edges of the fold to ensure that the new shape remains in place.

    • 2

Reopen the paper, then fold one corner in so that it reaches the horizontal crease.

    • 3

Pivot the fold across the page to create eight 60-degree creases.

    • 4

Unfold the entire page and refold it lengthwise in the same manner displayed in Step 1.

    • 5

Fold the paper in the middle to obtain a "V" shape object. Grab one of the ends and tuck it into the pocket of the bottom edge of the center triangle.

    • 6

Tuck the remaining flaps into side pockets nearby until you obtain a complete pyramid structure.

    • 7

Tape the edges together along the creases to secure the object.
