Make a collage. This can be done by either editing and arranging visual elements or by using various colors and textures of paper to create the likeness of a carved pumpkin, skeleton or whatever Halloween icon you choose to have on the front of your greeting card. The objective of this step is to create a two-dimensional Halloween picture that can be scanned and then used in a computer-generated card template that gets printed on a folding card.
Glue your paper pieces to a stiff backing that has the same approximate configuration as the card. For example, a 8-inch by 10-inch piece of artwork would reduce very nicely, so it could be used as the front of 4-inch by 5-inch greeting card.
Scan the artwork at 200 resolution in jpeg or TIFF format and reduce the real size of the image to the appropriate size, usually 4 inches by 5 inches.
Copy and paste the image into the first block. Most computer-generated greeting card templates involve four quadrants. The first quadrant is always filled with the feature image.
Place appropriate text in the third and fourth quadrant. These will be on the inside of the card and may be left blank or they can be filled with appropriate text.
Fill the fourth quadrant, which appears on the back of the card with your name or the name and the company, along with any copyrights that you might what to include.
Fill your printer with special lightweight 8-inch by 10-inch card stock. Then print the card from the template that you made through the software program, like Publisher or InDesign.
Fold the card in half and then into quarters. You may have to make a crease with a ruler before folding.
Glue or paste the edges of the card together. This step is actually optional depending on your preference.
