Create a holiday tree by cutting a few paper plates and coloring them with markers or paint. Start by cutting two plates in half. Take one of the four halves and cut it into half - leaving you with three halves and two fourths of a plate. Color all pieces green and arrange to form a tree. With the curved side of the plates facing downward, the plates can be stacked to form the shape of a Christmas tree - smaller pieces on top. Decorate the tree using paint and markers or by cutting out pieces of construction paper to create ornaments, tree trunk and a star for the top.
Divide a paper plate into four even sections using a marker. Write the name of a season on each section - Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall/Autumn. Teach the child how the trees change throughout the year, allowing him to draw accurate pictures on his plate.
Color a paper plate green using using markers, crayons or paint. Cut into a spiral shape, starting at the outside edge and cut inward in a circular pattern. The tree can then be hung from the center, causing the outer portion to hang down and create a spiral tree shape. Additional decorations, such as ornaments or leaves can be added to the tree using markers or paper cut-outs.
