How to Make Kindergarten Halloween Crafts

Holidays such as Halloween are a great way to get kids making crafts. At Halloween, people cover their houses in creepy cobwebs, bats, jack-o'-lanterns, witches, ghosts and skeletons. It is a great time to spend with family and friends, and kindergarten kids will be really excited about the decorations and trick or treating. They will love to get into the spirit of things by making crafts and desperate to show their parents what they have made when they get home.

Instructions

  1. Pasta Skeletons

    • 1

Make pasta skeletons using different types of pasta glued to a piece of black paper. Start by drawing out a rough sketch of a skeleton on a black piece of paper.

    • 2

Arrange the pasta shapes on the paper to look like a skeleton. Use different types of pasta for different parts of the body. For example, wagon wheel shaped pasta for the head, spiral pasta for the ribs and long tube pasta for the legs and arms.

    • 3

Glue all the pasta in place. The pieces should stick quite easily to the paper. You could then hang the pasta skeletons all around the kindergarten classroom.

    Jack-O'-Lantern Mask

    • 4

Draw a scary face on the back of a paper plate.

    • 5

Cut out the eyes, nose and mouth using the drawn lines as a guide .

    • 6

Color the lantern in bright orange paint so the paper plate resembles the color of a pumpkin.

    • 7

Make a hole in both sides of the plate. This can be done using a hole punch or by pushing a pen through the paper.

    • 8

Tie a piece of green string or wool through the holes and attach at the back. The string or wool should be long enough so that the kindergarten kid can wear the jack-o'-lantern mask.

    Bat Mobile

    • 9

Print out the required amount of bat templates from Familyfun.com (see resources). You will need double the bat templates for the amount of bats required on the mobile as the bat templates need to be stuck back-to-back. This is so that when the mobile is hung, there is not a blank piece of paper on one side. Mobiles look best with around 5 to 6 bats, so you will need 10 to 12 bats per child. There are three designs on Familyfun.com to choose from.

    • 10

Cut out the bats then stick them back-to-back using glue. This ensures that there is a bat print on both sides rather than a blank, white piece of paper on one side. Ensure you sandwich a piece of string in between the two bats so that this can be attached to the coat hanger later on. Make sure each piece of string, used with each separate bat, is a different length, so that, when on the mobile, the bats hang at different lengths.

    • 11

Take a coat hanger and arrange the bats so that they hang at different lengths. Tie the string to the coat hanger and secure.

    • 12

Dab glue on the coat hanger and cover in fake cobwebs. The fake cobwebs should stick really easily as they are light.

    • 13

Hang the mobiles around your kindergarten classroom.
