How to Make Your Own Lettering for Tattoos
There are literally hundreds of fonts and styles to choose from when selecting a script tattoo. But those who wish to make the tattoo even more personal can design their own lettering and have an artist transfer that image into tattoo form. If the tattoo is to honor a loved-one, consider having that person design the script, if possible. Traditional tattoos are done in black and gray but you can use different colors as well.

1
Draw the letters you wish to have tattooed on a blank piece of white paper. You may need to make corrections to the letters until they are perfect. This is why a pencil is necessary.
-
2
Trace over the pencil lines with your black marker so that the image will bleed onto to the other side of the paper.

3
Flip the paper over and copy the image in reverse on the back side.

4
Take the paper to your tattoo artist and allow him to professionally scale the letters to the correct size and copy them onto stencil paper.
